Dr. Carole Meredith was a professor of Aaron’s when he studied Winemaking at UC Davis in the early 90s.  Her husband Steve hired Aaron for one of his very first gigs, working the lab at Mondavi.  Aaron helped them plant their vineyard on Mt. Veeder, came to their parties and house-sat their pets.  All that was a long time ago, but we’ve remained friends and grew closer still when we moved to their Veeder neighborhood in 2004.  Our vineyards are an ATV-ride-down-a-fire-road distant from theirs, a trip we’ve done hundreds of times for pizza nights, ping pong rallies and to help each other with wine, vineyard and forestry management issues (usually with various dogs and children riding along).  In 2022 Steve and Carol decided to retire from active winemaking and offered us the opportunity to take over their vineyards.  A great win-win deal, and an exciting new chapter for us all.  It even made the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle….
